We Reject the Interventionist Drill with U.S. Aircraft in Caracas

We categorically condemn the evacuation drill that U.S. aircraft will carry out on Saturday, May 23, in Caracas’s airspace, with the authorization and endorsement of Delcy Rodríguez’s government. This is yet another violation of our country’s sovereignty and independence, carried out within the framework of the sellout pact between the Venezuelan government and the far-right Donald Trump.

This is yet another step toward surrender and submission to imperialism, adding to the public and conspicuous presence of Marines, CIA agents, and U.S. officials at a well-known hotel in Caracas; to the Hydrocarbons and Mining Laws, cooked up in the U.S. and in agreement with transnational corporations, as Jorge Rodríguez himself publicly acknowledged in a recent interview with Spain’s El País, and to the control the U.S. exercises over oil sales revenue, among other things.

We warn that they are evaluating the possibility of establishing U.S. military bases on our territory, something that would be unacceptable to the working class and the Venezuelan people.

Through all these actions, Trump seeks to restore the U.S.’ prestige as a great power, a nation that has been mired for years in a crisis of hegemonic dominance, within the global framework of the crisis of world imperialist capitalism. That is why they are attempting to revive the infamous Monroe Doctrine, and now the so-called “Trump Corollary.”

We also reject the support these measures receive from the capitalists grouped under Fedecámaras—with whom the government has close ties—as well as from the pro-Yankee opposition and union sectors that shamefully mobilize to the U.S. embassy to demand from imperialist Trump actions that are solely the prerogative of the Venezuelan people.

From the Socialism and Freedom Party, we reiterate our condemnation of these actions that violate our sovereignty. We reject any attempt to normalize imperialist interference in our country, and we publicly denounce imperialist interference that violates the soil of Bolívar and the Venezuelan working people.

We call on the people, on the working class, to reject these actions and to mobilize in defense of our sovereignty and independence.

No to the government’s sellout pact with Trump!

Trump out of Venezuela and Latin America!
